Nexant is a global consulting company with clients in the energy and chemical industries. They offer expertise in areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, carbon management, and water treatment, and provide software solutions for managing operations.
It used to be that if a power line went down, the utility company would triangulate the calls it received from customers to pinpoint the location of the fault. But today, there’s Grid360, sophisticated software that enables energy grid operators to monitor and analyze operations. When Nexant developed a prototype of this cutting-edge tool, it asked Favorite Medium to help them re-envision it for the energy companies that they serve.
With our user-centered design thinking, we helped Nexant expand their early market prototype into a complete energy network lifecycle that encompasses both operations and strategic planning. Distribution planners can use Grid360 to help them simulate different scenarios — such as storms — and optimize for them. We designed a user interface that’s clear and intuitive to use. Implemented at over 130 locations around the world, Grid360 helps utilities develop a better emergency response, analyze and plan their operations, and distribute energy more efficiently.
